It depends on whether or not you give yourself some time to get to know who you're staying with. One year I did stay with someone random and turned out to be a lot of fun. They were really nice people and really helped out with one of my first few con experiences. The downside is when you get someone who lies or cheats or steals or figures that they shouldn't have to pay their share. That's when it becomes a headache

Bachelor chow. Two pounds of hamburger. Brown that, drain off the fat and set it aside to wait. Cook up a box of pasta. Drain off water. Add to pasta a can of veggies, can of beans, can of tomato paste, the hamburger and a little water or the water from the veggies. Mix well, cook in the oven for a bit, top with slices of cheese, cook for ten more minutes in the oven. Nice hot meal ready to serve. Leftovers get portioned out and put in the cooler for more meals.

Please be aware that many conventions are seeing a tremendously increased number of foreign scammers attempting to con people looking for hotel rooms lately. Use extreme caution when interacting with strangers whom you have never met if you are searching for hotel rooms.

Pay particular attention to these red flags:
• No account username
• Few profile pictures, or lack thereof
• Multiple profile pictures uploaded in quick succession
• Broken English and improper grammar
• Under-usage or over-usage of furry terminology
• Obviously stolen artwork (cropped low quality images, well-known art pieces, etc)

Never pay for a room with cryptocurrency, wire transfer, gift cards, or similar methods. Be extremely cautious of any requests for advance payment, especially "deposits" or "confirmation payments".

If anything seems off, it is better to play it safe and look elsewhere.

I’d be there every day if I lived that close. Absolutely delicious. I stopped in the Monday after the con, bought almost everything, and was eating it on the way home. They were so popular last year the owner told me he ran outta food and had to make an emergency run to the grocery store to restock for Monday and still ended up having to close early. 😂

Totally true. At one con I was at years ago which no longer exists they literally brought their tv, game consoles, blankets and pillows, stuffed animals, curtains, a refrigerator and microwave, a hot plate, a router, and their desktop.
